Wants

It was his birthday,
he was treated good food.
He got top in the class,
he was given an award.
Whatever he wanted,
he got it.
He should be satisfied,
but he wasn't.
He should be happy,
but he wasn't.
No one could fathom his thoughts.
No one could look beyond the veil.
What he really wanted
wasn't external materials,
but for people to listen to him.
